Love this awareness by the San Jose Sharks and it reminded me of the great Deaf Awareness promotional nights. Authentic and thoughtful awareness is not forgotten by fans (and players).
Top draft pick Ozzy Wiesblatt’s mothers is deaf and the team GM announced the pick using American Sign Language to spell his name so she could enjoy the moment with her son.
Here are some Deaf Awareness Night highlights. I look forward seeing if the Sharks or their affiliate teams connect a Deaf Awareness Night with Ozzy in the coming seasons. They are off to a great start showing compassion and understanding to the deaf community.
- Pelicans Deaf Jam
- Pawsox Put Pride in Deaf Awareness Night
- Windy City Deaf Awareness Night
- ASL for MILB
- Silent Set at PSU
The San Jose Sharks selected Ozzy Wiesblatt with the 31st pick in tonight's NHL Draft.
