Humor can be challenging in hard times. When is it okay for a playful poke or to look at the lighter side of hard times? It is a tricky judgement call. Which is why this stood out from an Arizona Cardinals game.
The team had a “Pandemic Thoughts” segment with their mascot Big Red. In it he teased local newscasters who have been broadcasting live from their homes suggesting he assumed they would have nicer homes. Sportscaster Nick King didn’t seem to be amused at the barb.
Of course funny is in the eye of the beholder, but taking that first leap can be perilous. Notre Dame had a similar “pandemic” joke on their videoboard that had some minor blowback this month also. (Measured Videoboard Graphic has Notre Dame Buzzing).
The jumbotron just showed Cardinals mascot Big Red's 'Pandemic Thoughts,' which included "I thought newscasters would have nicer homes." 😑
