Oshawa Pride

Oshawa digs into the details for this thoughtful Pride Night Celebration.

The Generals are getting specific on ways to showcase that Hockey is for Everyone.  Lots of great details for their 2nd Annual Pride Night.

We talked about tapping into local groups for these awareness nights on the March 2022 Party in the Back Podcast.  The pod focused on Autism Awareness Night, but the lessons are the same. Get the details and framing right by connecting with insiders and community leaders on the subject.  Here the Generals noted several direct connections that helped them build a thoughtful outreach.

Pride Night – Sunday, March 29th vs Ottawa

The Oshawa Generals are so proud to host our second annual Pride Night as we continue to be committed to both the advocacy of and education of diversity and inclusion.

Local LGBTQ+ organizations will join us on the concourse to act as safe spaces for everyone in the #GensNation community to learn, grow, and see themselves as part of our community. Representation is incredibly important to us.

Our players will dawn a custom-designed Pride Night decal created by Alexandria Cotterill, a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community and an extremely talented member of our Graphic Design team. This decal will be worn on our players’ helmets throughout the game as well as featured on the official game pucks throughout the night.

You the fans can also join us in wearing your Pride on your sleeves as a unique Pride Night t-shirt will also be sold at and leading up to the game. While the design is still a secret, it is meant to express the existing connection between the LGTBQ+ community and hockey and how we believe this connection can be made even stronger. All proceeds from sales of our 2022 Pride Night T-Shirt will be donated to an LGBTQ+ charitable organization from Durham Region.

Finally, stay tuned for an extremely special and glamourous guest that will be dropping the ceremonial puck drop. You won’t want to miss it.
