I believe the Knicks are the lone NBA team celebrating Latvian Heritage Night….and they are doing it for the second year in a row. Probably connected to their franchise star Kristaps Porzingis being from Latvia.
Last year’s celebration included the PRESIDENT of LATVIA….top that for your next heritiage celebration promotion. The PRESIDENT of LATVIA!
Last Year’s Highlights:
Join us as we celebrate the Latvian Centennial when the New York Knicks and home of NBA All Star Kristaps Porzingis take on the Milwaukee Bucks @ MSG and wish Kristaps a speedy recovery after his recent surgery ! (Photos)
Special guest of honor: President of Latvia, H.E. Mr. Raimonds Vējonis.
A fun packed evening, featuring the NY Latvian Choir performing the Star Spangled Banner, traditional Latvian piragi for sale, and exclusive t-shirt giveaways.
Madison Square Garden and the New York Knicks have designated February 24, 2019 as Latvian Heritage Night!
How will they top it this year? Well for starters they have another famous Latvian schedule to appear: The Knicks play the San Antonio Spurs – the team of Dāvis Bertāns…the NBA’s other Latvian player.
Knicks are celebrating “Latvian Heritage Night” at Madison Square Garden on February 24th, one week after the All-Star break.
Safe to assume Kristaps Porzingis will make sure he’s available to play in that game.
