Dinger Pulled Into the Fray

A fan was accused of taunting a player with an ugly slur, which turned out to be the fan just trying to get the mascot’s attention.

Interesting story this week that pulled the Rockies Mascot into the fray.

A fan was misheard and incorrectly accused of yelling a racial slur at a player, which later turned out to be the fan trying to get “Dinger’s” attention in an adjacent section.

Good reporting and video work supports that fan was not addressing the player (see tweet below).  Also good careful posting on social media by Dinger as the character stayed out of the fray, only posting the club’s policy on a respectful environment.

Will be worth keep an eye on this to see if the club feels like the name poses an on-going issue. Plus is our value-added membership site.
