Beating the Heat

These three teams find ways to help fans beat the heat.

After a brutal few days of heat we found these “Beat the Heat” promotions refreshing.  First from Buffalo, quick-turn ideas to note the heat and show the benefits of coming to the ballpark on a hot day.

The Harrisburg Senators have a Splash Zone, where fans are encouraged to come dressed in your water park best. The team turns Sections 101 & 102 in to a splash zone to keep fans cool all game long.  Seats will not be sold in 101/102 – fans can come and go from those sections all game long….that’s in addition to the team’s regular promotions for the day:

Youth T-shirt Giveaway and Rite Aid Family Sunday (4 box seat tickets, 4 hot dogs, 4 bags of chips, 4 small sodas for $44.)  Plus Kids Run the Bases post-game.

And of course the excellent operations from the Charleston Riverdogs has been on this all along.

Wednesday, July 13, 12:05pm: Splash Day / Seniors Eat Free / HOPE Week: Join the RiverDogs and the Greater Charleston Restaurant Association as we turn the stadium into a water park in a rare 12:05pm first pitch. In association with ABC Quality Child Care and WEZL, Splash Day camp kids will be schooled in super soakers, water balloons, fire hoses and, of course, there will be a few surprises. It’ll also be Senior Wednesday as seniors who enter the stadium before 12pm will receive a free hot dog, chips and a drink. There will also be special seating for those who prefer not to get soaked.
