You Can Play

Twitter is a wild card, which can be good or bad.

I flagged this post from the Penguins for the Water Cooler last week, for being a great promotion that touted their inclusive efforts connected with the You Can Play movement.

You Can Play works to ensure the safety and inclusion of all in sports - including LGBTQ athletes, coaches and fans.

You Can Play works to guarantee that athletes are given a fair opportunity to compete, judged by other athletes and fans alike, only by what they contribute to the sport or their team’s success.

You Can Play seeks to challenge the culture of locker rooms and spectator areas by focusing only on an athlete’s skills, work ethic and competitive spirit.  (You Can Play Mission Statement)

I note Twitter's effect here, because there is a revealing back and forth between some fans in the twitter comments...which in a sad way showcase why these efforts are so needed.

Props to the Pens for starting this water cooler discussion and showing #HockeyIsForEveryone.
