Beach Ball Drop
The Beach Ball Drop promotion was a Best of 2005: The Gameops.com Review winner on Gameops.com. The promotion was successfully executed by the Orlando Magic for their state lottery sponsor.
Thirty white beach balls painted as lottery balls are tossed into the crowd. The entire crowd bounces the balls around until the music stops. Once stopped, whoever is holding the balls waits for the winning number. The numbers are announced on the MagicVision and by the PA announcer, and fans holding the winning balls are awarded a prize.
The promotion is an interactive spectacle and a perfect connection to the sponsor. It's a promotion fans do not forget.
The Orlando Magic use balls that are about 2.5 to 3 feet in diameter. They have the lottery sponsor imprinted on each ball, then they used a cut out to trace the numbers on each ball and color them with a Sharpie marker. The tracing is done while the balls are inflated, allowing ample time to dry.
Note: None of the balls offered here are numbered, that must be done by hand.
